How Has Cecil Beaton's Work Influenced Masculine & Feminine Messages in Photography Today?

Cecil Beaton, a pioneer in social photography. One of the most respectable and notable photographers-to-the-celebrities that the industry has seen. Beaton conveyed an obvious glamorous image in his work. He was very good at expressing his ideal image of a woman. With all the Hollywood A-listers on his side, Cecil Beaton was destined to make an impact, let alone a change, on how the world views the social photographers view on the world that is 'celebrity'.

More after the jump.

In his work, Beaton was able to put the male/ female sex on show without revealing a single slip of a woman's stocking or a man's underwear. His work was elegant and respectable and it was clear that he put a lot of effort in the ideas behind the shoots.

Every now and again, I browse through celebrity websites and blogs and I always come across the same social photographer of today. This man could almost be called the 'Cecil Beaton of the 21st century'. In the past ten years, David LaChapelle was able to dominate the industry as the number one social photographer.

He has photographed icons from Madonna to Lady Gaga to Angelina Jolie and even Tupac. Through his work, there is clear comparison to the work of Beaton.

David LaChapelle is (born March 11, 1963) is noted for his unique, sexual, daring, quirky, fun, humorous, and sometimes controversial work.
